RQU - Reston QU Fabric Sale (October 31, 2026)

Reston QU is having a sale October 31 due to the generous donation of many members and local contributions. Fabric will be sold by the pound (approximately 3 yards). There will be sergers, machines, notions, kits and sundry items for sale.

Stop by between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm to pick up something new to you! Easy access and plenty of parking behind the church.

Springfield QU Business Meeting is usually the first Tuesday of the month. Weather permitting, we follow Fairfax County's school schedule. We review the upcoming programs, show and tell, healthy snacks and turn in our community sewing for others. Please wear your name tags! Quilting visitors are welcome!

There is a culture of cuteness in Japan that is so pervasive it has its own name, Kawaii. Learn about how this has impacted a new genre of quilts called Kawaii Quilts.

SQU Bus trip to National Museum of Women in the Arts (November 10, 2026)

SQU is scheduled for a bus trip to WDC to visit the National Museum of Women in the Arts to go on a docent led tour of Routed West: Twentieth-Century African American Quilts in California exhibit on November IO, 2026. Half of our group will tour at 11 am and the second half at noon.

This is a docent led tour with their request of two groups of 15 each.

Cost will be $45 to cover bus, admission to the museum and the tour. We will be meet at the Saratoga Commuter lot to depart at 9:15 and leave the museum by 1:30, and return (hopefully) by 2:30. We are better quilters because we ARE so diverse and we share knowledge. This is a wonderful opportunity to grow and visit the NMWA's Twentieth-Century African American Quilts in California. ***Please contact Lisa Langlais for more information: lisalsqu99@gmail.

Candy Grisham of iCandyquilts will be lecturing on 'Tools of the Trade' VIRTUALLY. Candy has been fascinated with fabric, sewing and quilting since the age of nine, when she took her first sewing class and won a prize for my corduroy jumper and print shirt.

SQU Dancing Dresdens virtual workshop with Candy Grisham (November 17, 2026)

Candy Grisham of iCandyquilts will be teaching a class on Dancing Dresdens. Create a small wall hanging or baby quilt learning to make one of the Dresden edge finishes. Special borders make it a simple but unique project. Requires template.
