Annandale

Welcome to the Annandale Chapter! We were the first chapter of Quilters Unlimited, starting with sixteen members in 1972. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age or level of skill. If you are looking for a meeting during the day, please come and visit us. Prospective members and visitors are always welcome at our meetings.

    Our October meeting will include a program called "Journeys" by Beth Wiesner.  Beth has been sewing since she was 10 years old and has dabbled in most textile-related crafts.  When Beth learned to quilt, it stuck but the most fun she experienced was the addition of embroidery to her work.  Beth designs patterns under the name Cuckoo Quilts and teaches applique. Her designs are colorful and whimsical. 

    Afterward, she'll present a workshop based on applique of her own design called "Dogwood Flower".  See the calendar event to register for the workshop.

    This meeting lasts about two hours with an approximately 30-minute business meeting, show and tell, refreshment break, and a 60-minute program.

    Beth Wiesner will present a workshop on an applique design of her own making called "Dogwood Flower".   Kits will be available at the workshop for $10 if you register by September 10, 2025.  Beth will accept cash, Venmo or Zelle (no checks).  Beth includes lovely embellishments in her kits.  A supply list will be sent. 

    The class will cost $35.00 for members.

    Our fall retreat is a great time to focus on a project or three, spend some time at the beautiful Cacapon State Park, and get to know some your sister members.  The lodge was recently remodeled and is truly beautiful.  The park has great hiking trails and wonderful views.  It is less than two hours from the Fairfax area.

    Our program this month will be a talk by Bunnie Jordan called "Hit Parade of Quilting."  This is a trunk show of some of the most popular styles of quilting over the last 200 years.  Bunnie is a quilt maker, quilt author, quilt collector and quilt teacher.  She is also an appraiser, a member of the American Society of Quilt Appraisers, specializing in quilts and textiles.

    This meeting lasts about two hours with an approximately 30-minute business meeting, show and tell, refreshment break, and a 60-minute program.
